Blue Jays ranked as the team to beat by MLB players and staff
The Blue Jays currently lead the American League East division by 5 games ahead of the New York Yankees and are 3 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers for the AL lead.
"On Monday, ESPN published a survey of anonymous players, scouts, and executives, asking who the postseason favorites were in each league. The Blue Jays narrowly received the most votes, and an anonymous rival player explained why he chose Toronto as the "team to beat" in the junior circuit." -Roberts
A rival player that chose to remain anonymous told ESPN that the reason they are seen as the top team is because they are the most well rounded team and have a little bit of everything in their lineup.
"They're one of the most rounded teams in the AL," the player said, per ESPN. "They have some experience, especially in the rotation, and have a little bit of everything in the lineup. That's tough to contend with in a series. I just think they have the most complete team." -anonymous MLB player
The Blue Jays ended up with 19 votes for the team to beat in the playoffs in the American League while the Detroit Tigers were in second with 5 and the New York Yankees were in third with 3 tied with the Boston Red Sox.
The team clearly believe that they can go all the way but it looks like the rest of the league is taking notice and believe that Toronto might have what it takes to win the World Series this year.
