The Toronto Blue Jays biggest problem this season has been consistency but one player that does not seem to be having those problems in pitcher Chris Bassitt who is being considered the team's early MVP.
Bassitt has been by far the Blue Jays most consistent player so far this season and that's not to say he has not had a few bad games but overall has been solid in the majority of his outings.
Blue Jays veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt looked at as the team's early MVP in recent update
So far this season, Bassitt has a 3.38 ERA to go along with 63 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched, a 1.32 WHIP as well as a 4-3 record on the season which shows exactly how well he has been doing.
In a recent report, Tim Britton mentioned how Bassitt iis currently the Blue Jays best player despite being on the rough end of a 13-0 loss in his last outing since he has been one of the few consistent players in their entire lineup.
«Look, it's always our preference that our pick for a team MVP isn't on the losing end of a 13-0 contest in his last start before we go to press. But we can't win them all, and neither, of course, can Bassitt. Sunday's poor start against the Rays aside, Bassitt has bounced back from a not-bad-but-not-up-to-his-standards 2024 by pitching as well as ever this season,» -Britton
If Bassitt can bounce back from his last start and continue to provide the Blue Jays with solid pitching, he will likely earn himself quite the payday this off-season when he becomes a free agent.
Despite how he has been playing and the fact that his contract is coming up soon, it looks like the Blue Jays do not seem interested in bringing him back next season which is why he has been surrounded by trade rumors.
If Toronto decides to move Bassitt at the trade deadline, it will likely be proof that they are sellers and do not expect to make the playoffs because he has been there best pitcher in 2025 and they will not be able to replace him.
