Trade offer announced between the Blue Jays and Cardinals for all-star
The Toronto Blue Jays and St Louis Cardinals could be closing a massive trade in the next 24 hours for pitcher Ryan Helsley.
The Blue Jays were linked to Minnesota Twins pitcher Jhoan Duran but the Philadelphia Phillies ended up closing on him late this afternoon stealing away one of Toronto's top targets.

The Blue Jays have made it clear that they are going after multiple bullpen arms at the deadline this year and according to multiple reports, Helsley seems to be at the top of their list.
John Denton of MLB.com recently discussed St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley and his trade stock. He also noted that talks between St. Louis and Toronto are intensifying. -Bishop
"Trade talks with the Jays are so advanced that they have already discussed with Helsley's camp a plan of having Jeff Hoffman and Helsley share the closer role, per a source. Toronto did land Seranthony Dominguez from the Orioles on Tuesday, but he is likely just the appetizer with Helsley being the main course for a relief-starved team," -Denton
Toronto will certainly have to give up quite the package in exchange for Helsley as he is currently one of the best relievers in baseball as of right now with a 3.00 ERA in 36 innings pitched.
There is a good chance that the Blue Jays package includes one of their current young players as names such as Davis Schneider, Joey Loperfido and Alan Roden have been mentioned.
If the Blue Jays miss out on Helsley like they did with Duran, they are apparently very interested in Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher David Bednar as well.
"The thing I kept hearing with the Blue Jays was [Ryan] Helsley and [David] Bednar... the GMs are telling me that Toronto is pedal to the metal."
If the Blue Jays end up getting both Seranthony Dominguez and Helsley at the trade deadline, they will have quite the bullpen heading into the playoffs.
