The Minnesota Twins announced this afternoon that they have decided to designated former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jose Urena for assignment ahead of their game in Toronto.
Former Blue Jays pitcher Jose Urena DFA'd before game in Toronto
The Twins announced a couple roster moves this afternoon as they have decided to call up RHP Mick Abel from Triple-A and consequently have DFA'd Urena.
The Minnesota Twins have recalled RHP Mick Abel from AAA and DFA'd RHP Jose Urena in the corresponding move.
Urena is not the only player DFA'd today as Erasmo Ramirez, Shawn Dubin and Dylan Moore has all been DFA'd by their teams this afternoon as well.
The following players have been designated for assignment:
RHP Erasmo Ramirez- Twins
RHP José Urena- Twins
RHP Shawn Dubin- Astros
2B Dylan Moore- Mariners
The Twins called up Urena in early August after trading away a bunch of players at the deadline and in 4 games he finished with a 4.58 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched which is not terrible.
Urena will not be looking for his fifth team of the season which would tie the record that pitcher Oliver Drake currently holds from 2018 for playing on the most teams in one season with 5.
Despite another tough designation, Urena should be able to find himself a new minor league contract before the end of the season.
