The Toronto Blue Jays isn't satisfied with the outcome of the 2025 season and are looking for every option to improve their team, their next target is Munetaka Murakami of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in Japan.

The Blue Jays have been busy to start the off-season but have yet to announce a signing just yet.

Japan's Murakami becomes number one target for Blue Jays.

Adam Laskaris of the Daily Hive reported on the potential of the Blue Jays acquiring Murakami and getting him to make the move over to North America.
The 25 year old infielder, is just another example of all the great talent coming out of Japan but the Blue Jays have plenty of competition in signing him.
"Per MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and Boston Red Sox are all also interested in his services. Murakami has a 45-day window that opens Saturday to sign a contract with an MLB team, giving him up until Dec. 22 to strike a deal."-Laskaris

Murakami has an impressive frame of 6'2, 213 pounds, he has recorded 246 home runs in 892 games. In 2022 he set record for most home runs by a Japanese player with 56.
His acquisition would shake up the Blue Jays infield, which is already in question with Bo Bichettte's status unknown.
"Murakami has primarily played as a third baseman in Japan, though he has also sporadically suited up at first base and in the outfield when necessary."-Laskaris

The Blue Jays have definitely become a more desirable place for free agents after this World Series run, and it will be interesting to see if starts to show with some star players joining the team in Toronto.
