US Media reacts to the Toronto Blue Jays chances at the World Series in 2026

After losing the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays find themselves in a position they haven't felt in a long time, pressure to win the whole thing, among them are the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies who feel that same level of desperation.
The Blue Jays are the new kids on the block when it comes to the big teams of the league, but they immediately feel the pressure after a good season
Toronto Blue Jays feel all the pressure to get the job done.
Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, wrote about the teams with the most pressure to win the World Series in ascending order. The Blue Jays ranked 4th in the MLB, due to their success last season, and their emergence as a top spending franchise.
"The Blue Jays are the "new money" of the bunch. In fact, they didn't even pay a luxury tax in 2024 while the other three have each done so in each of the past four years. But after coming so painfully close to winning the World Series a few months ago and after spending all that they have in the past calendar year, the desperation level is clearly very high."-Kerry Miller
To no one's surprise the Yankees are facing the most pressure, almost 20 years since winning a World Series, and in the top 3 in spending every year. They clearly are desperate to win, especially with the fan base they have, they have yet to be able to handle the pressure, but maybe this year is the year they accomplish it.
"But the Yankees take the cake here. Their big five is even older than Philadelphia's, they're mired in the longest World Series drought in franchise history and have had to watch the Dodgers usurp their throne as MLB's evil empire. And even after all the spending Toronto has done, the Yankees are on track to spend the most of any AL team for what would be the seventh consecutive season."-Miller
The Blue Jays made their run last season with zero pressure, now they are coming in with big expectations, it will be interesting to see if they can handle the spotlight, or will they crumble like the Yankees have in recent memory.
