A Toronto Blue Jays fan experienced a rare moment of redemption, getting a second chance to snag a home run ball, astonishingly, both opportunities came in the same inning.
During Thursday's 12-0 blowout win over the Athletics at Rogers Center, a young Blue Jays fan attempted to catch a home run hit by third baseman
Ernie Clement off Jacob Lopez in the second inning.
Blue Jays fan drops home run ball, then nails redemption catch in the same inning.
Unfortunately, the ball popped in and out of his glove, leaving the young fan holding his glove and hand over his head in disbelief. He was comforted with a pat on the back and remained visibly stunned by the near miss.
But the real excitement was just around the corner. The Blue Jays exploded for eight runs in the inning, including another home run, this time from star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., just a few batters after Clement's blast.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
This young @BlueJays fans made sure he caught the second homer hit his way 😀
Incredibly, despite nearly 24,000 fans in attendance, Guerrero's home run found its way to the same young fan, and this time, he made the catch. The crowd around him erupted in cheers, showering him with high fives as he beamed with joy, a far cry from earlier disappointment.
The identity of the lucky fan has yet to be revealed. Though it's uncommon for home ruins or foul balls to land in the exact same section, this is no doubt a moment that the young fan will never forget for the rest of his life.
