Blue Jays seem to be overworking Jeff Hoffman
Hoffman has seen quite a bit of playing time this season despite putting shakey numbers as he has pitched a total 64 innings this season across 67 games.
The Blue Jays using Hoffman so much has clearly been taking a toll on him as his velocity has been declining quite a bit lately as his fastball has been down below 95 MPH for 3 straight games now.
#BlueJays squeezed out the win tonight, but it's worth noting that Jeff Hoffman's 4-seamer has now averaged below 95 mph in 3 straight games.
This was also his 67th appearance of 2025, 1 shy of matching last season's career-high total.
When looking at overall speed, Hoffman's fastball is down 3 MPH which is quite a bit and he seems to have stopped using all together right now due to that.
This is code red in terms of worry levels. Jeff Hoffman's fastball is down 3 MPH and he's completely stopped using it in the process.
We have a major problem right now.
This could end up being a big problem for the Blue Jays for the last couple series of the season and then in the playoffs.
The Blue Jays need everyone playing at the top of their game right now and Hoffman seems to be declining quite a bit at the worst time possible.
