The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to make a big splash in the trade market and it looks like San Diego Padres pitcher Mason Miller could be a target.
The Padres are apparently listening to offers on Miller despite only acquiring him from the Athletics at the trade deadline last season as they believe they can get a big return that will help them out more than keeping him on the team.
While the Blue Jays have made some big changes when it comes to their starting rotation and bullpen so far this off-season, they are apparently still looking to add which is why bringing in Miller could be perfect.
"The Blue Jays should do their due diligence if Miller is available. His fastball averages 101.2 mph, and he struck out a ridiculous 44.4% of the batters he faced last season. He ranked in the 100th percentile for expected batting average against and whiff rate. He's unquestionably the most dominant closer in baseball right now. " Ben Wrixon said.
Trading for Miller would certainly come at a price as he was arguably one of the best relievers in the MLB in 2025 and could have some potential to be a solid starting pitcher.
If a trade were to take place between the Padres and Blue Jays for Miller, Ross Atkins would have to be ready to send over at least 2-3 top end prospects and 1 major league players.
"Of course, acquiring Miller - who is under team control through 2029 - would cost a king's ransom. But this is a list of dream targets ,and he fits the bill. " Wrixon added.
The Blue Jays would be unstoppable next season if they added Miller to their roster but need to see if the trade package is worth it.
