Ross Atkins speaks on decision to move Bo Bichette to second base
Atkins spoke to the media about a few things this afternoon in which he stated that Toronto ultimately ended up putting Bichette on their roster and at second base because the team felt it gave them the best chance at winning.
GM Ross Atkins says Blue Jays felt Bo Bichette "was in a good enough position to help our team and make us better» in adding him to the roster.
This is a bit f a risky call since Bichette has not played in almost two months and the last time he played second base was in Triple-A during the 2019 season.
Bo Bichette, who hasn't played since Sept. 6, is batting cleanup for the Blue Jays and playing second base, a position he last played for one game in 2019 at AAA.
At the same time, Bichette was one of if not the best hitter for the Blue Jays this season which is why it is clear they needed to find a way to get him into the lineup.
Atkins was also asked about
Trey Yesavage to which he stated that they never really had a choice with moving him up so quickly since the rookie pitcher made the choice himself with how well he pitched.
Ross Atkins on the Trey Yesavage's rapid ascension to the majors: "He made the decision for us."
Clearly the Blue Jays have a lot of confidence in Yesavage which is why they have decided to have him kick things off for them in the World Series tonight.
