The Toronto Blue Jays have quite a few outfielders on their roster even with all of their current injuries but with Daulton Varsho set to return soon, it looks like Jonatan Clase might be headed back down to the minors.

The Blue Jays announced recently that Varsho has been progressing in his injury recovery and is expected to make his return to the lineup soon if everything continues to progress in the right direction.

Clase has had some solid moments in the majors since being called back up in early May but he continues to have a hard time at the plate which is why it is believed that he will get sent back down when Varsho returns.
Manager John Schneider recently spoke on Clase's future stating that he still has a lot to learn but he is a very skilled player especially at his age but Schneider clearly believes that he still needs to learn a lot before becoming an everyday player.
«He's a little bit younger,» added the manager, «and there are still some things that we talk about every day with him in terms of game situations and things like that and when to take chances, when to not.

But he's probably a little bit different because of his age and probably the high-ceiling that he does have.» -Schneider

Clase spoke about his game recently stating that he is trying to be more confident and slow things down to compete at the highest level possible, while in some moments he has looked great, in others he still looks very young.
"You've got to find a way to calm down, to trust yourself and compete,» Clase, speaking through interpreter Hector Lebron, said of his higher-leverage hits.

«That's one of the things that I've been able to do, especially in moments like that are very important for me, for my teammates, for the team. Trusting myself and being confident.» -Clase

While Clase could see himself optioned back to Triple-A when Varsho returns, most believe that the clear choice to get sent down should be Davis Schneider since he has been very bad since returning to the Blue Jays.
Despite all of that, there is a good chance Clase gets sent down since he is younger the team seems to feel he will develop better in the minors.
