The Toronto Blue Jays had one criticism last season it was their pitching rotation, it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, now with Dylan Cease joining the rotation it's definitely a step up but it apparently isn't enough to be the best in the AL East with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

The Red Sox definitely have the best rotation going into 2026, meaning it comes down to the Blue Jays and Yankees for the second best rotation in the division.

Blue Jays still have work to do with their starting rotation.

Matthew Sookram of Jays Journal reported on the Blue Jays competition in the AL East, it's the most competitive division in the MLB, especially in the pitching department.
As it stands the Red Sox have the best rotation entering 2026, and the Blue Jays are currently in second ahead of the Yankees.
"The Blue Jays and their division rivals, the Boston Red Sox have already made some significant additions to their starting rotation this offseason, while the New York Yankees have stood pat thus far. As it currently stands though, the Red Sox are projected by Steamer fWAR to have the best rotation in the ultra competitive AL East."-Sookram

The Blue Jays heading into 2026 will have a rotation of Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, Jose Berrios and Trey Yesavage. This would equate to have a combined 12.7 fWar, a couple points back of the Boston Red Sox at 14.3
"The Yankees on the other hand are projected for an 11.0 fWAR led by Max Fried (3.6), Carlos Rodon (2.2), Gerrit Cole (2.0), Cam Schlittler (1.8) and Will Warren (1.4). But these projections feel somewhat premature for the Yankees who will likely be looking to make an upgrade with what's available on the market."-Sookram

The Blue Jays are making efforts to stay on pace with two of the biggest markets in baseball.
A couple years ago this wouldn't have been a possibility, but with their recent run, and added funds, they're now a premiere organization in the MLB.
They're receiving a much better reception from free agents and their agents. It's only to result in a better future for Canada's team.
