The Boston Red Sox announced yesterday that they surprisingly decided to cut ties with former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Ali Sanchez as they DFA'd him.

The Blue Jays DFA'd Sanchez recently as Alejandro Kirk returned from IL which resulted in him being claimed off waivers by the Red Sox.

The Red Sox announced a few roster moves which involved Sanchez being designated for assignment to make room for Nate Eaton and Nathaniel Lowe.
Sanchez was not really given a real chance to perform for the Red Sox as he only saw one at bat against the Houston Astros a few days ago.

He's going to be an awesome random Red Sox to name one day.

Only had 1 AB in a Red Sox uniform. Hopefully he sneaks through waivers

Sanchez had one plate appearance with the Red Sox. They'll hope he sneaks through waivers.
Since Sanchez proved that he could be a solid back up earlier this season with the Blue Jays when they ran into injury trouble with their catchers, he will probably get picked up off waivers once again.
In 9 games this season, Sanchez has a .227 batting average, .227 on base percentage with 5 hits including two double in 22 at bats.
It will be interesting to see where Sanchez ends up next.
