Max Scherzer will be a free agent once again this winter and his price tag for a new deal has been circulating which means the Toronto Blue Jays would actually be able to land him for cheaper than this season if they bring him back.

Scherzer has been dealing with a lot of injury problems this season which makes him a bit of a risk when it comes to an extension for the Blue Jays.

Price tag for Max Scherzer's next deal announced

So far this season, Scherzer has had a decent year when healthy which unfortunately has only been a small sample since he has only pitched 14 games this season and has a 4.36 ERA.
According to a recent report and Spotrac, Scherzer is expected to sign a one year deal once again next season worth $9.6 million.

If Scherzer ends up signing for less than $10 million many expect that quite a few teams would be interested is his experience and skill for such a small amount.
"If Scherzer gets less than $10 million, there will be teams around Major League Baseball interested in adding him. At this stage of his career, he'll likely be only interested in throwing for a contender, which is another factor teams will have to consider. " -Conahan

MLB insider Keegan Matheson also recently stated that regardless of the price, there is about a %30 chance in his opinion that Scherzer will return to Toronto.
«Give me 30%. Give me a one-third-ish odds. He likes Toronto. He likes the money, of course, and the Blue Jays still going to have money. And he wanted a shot to win. He's not 31, he's 41. And you've only got so many cracks at this left,» -Matheson

If the Blue Jays are able to keep Scherzer for less than $10 million it would make a ton of sense to bring him back just for his experience alone, the issue is regarding his health and the fact that he is injury prone.
Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins certainly has some big decisions to make this off-season.
