The Toronto Blue Jays made headlines when they signed Dylan Cease to a $210M contract, they have one of the best rotations in baseball now along with Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, and ESPN has a decent rating for the acquisition.
ESPN would have given an "A" to the Blue Jays, but Cease is approaching his thirties and the deal is quite expensive.
"Now armed with an elite rotation that features Cease, Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, and José Berrios, the Toronto Blue Jays figure to be right back in the World Series mix in 2026. That unit alone is strong enough to power them through the AL East, and their high-powered offense should remain a team-wide strength, especially if Bo Bichette makes his way back to Canada on a similar contract."-Glick
At the worst Cease is a solid middle of the pack starter, and at best he could become the Blue Jays ace. It's not a very high risk investment, just an expensive one, and after losing Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt, it was a necessary move.
"He and Gausman should form a lethal 1-2 punch next season, and in the long term, Cease and Yesavage should be a nice duo to build around once Gausman and Bieber reach free agency following the 2026 campaign."-Glick
The Blue Jays are on the right path toward continuing their 2025 success, they have the pieces to make another long postseason run, and they're not done adding more firepower to the roster. It's definitely the most exciting time to be a Blue Jays fan in recent memory.
