The Mets signed Lovelady to a major league deal in June after he was released by the Minnesota Twins earlier in the month, making the Mets his third team of the season.

Lovelady had a strange season in 2025 as he started off with the Blue Jays then was released and signed with the Twins who ended up releasing him as well before finishing off with the Mets.
After 10 games played across 3 teams in 2025, Lovelady finished with a 8.49 ERA in 11.2 innings pitched to go along with 12 strikeouts and a 0-1 record.
Despite these rough numbers, Lovelady was still able to land himself a new deal for next season as he signed a one year, major league deal with the Mets for the 2026 season.
The New York Mets re-signed LHP Richard Lovelady to a one-year MLB contract.
Lovelady ended up making 8 appearances this season for the Mets putting up a 6.30 ERA.
