Former Toronto Blue Jays infielder released by the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers announce recently that they have decided to release former Toronto Blue Jays infielder Buddy Kennedy.
Earlier this week, the Dodgers announced that they decided to designated Kennedy for assignment in order to activate Kike Hernandez of the IL list.
Dodgers release former Blue Jays infielder Buddy Kennedy
After the Dodgers DFA'd Kennedy earlier in the week, he ended up clearing waivers and electing free agency resulting in the team releasing him and making him a free agent once again.
Los Angeles Dodgers INF Buddy Kennedy cleared outright waivers and elected free agency.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won't be keeping Buddy Kennedy, despite the journeyman infielder clearing waivers.
Kennedy will now be searching for his fourth team of the MLB season despite only playing 13 games in total for the Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
There is not much surprise to Kennedy being back on the open market as he has failed to make a mark in all three situations even though his sample size was very small on all occasions.
So far this season, Kennedy has played 13 games with 29 at bats in which he has 2 hits, 0 homeruns and 1 RBI with a .069 batting average and .156 on base percentage.
Since Kennedy is only 26 years old, he should be able to land himself a new minor league deal before the end of the season and if not he will certainly find one in the off-season.
Hopefully Kennedy will be able to finally find himself a team where he will be given a real shot on his next contract.
