The World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers had a lot of people talking, including Travis and Jason Kelce, who on their podcast dismissed the importance of having the Blue Jays there.
Jason Kelce was heavily critical of how baseball works, and how the teams who spend the most money win.
Jason Kelce says he was misinterpreted over Blue Jays World Series comments.
Bryann Aguilar of CTV News reported on the recent comments made by the Kelce brothers on their podcast.
The comments have caused quite the stir on social media, especially with a lot of frustration from Canadians.
"While Travis praised the World Series as an «awesome seven games of baseball. You're telling me I'm supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team that spends more money than everybody else?» «Who the f--- cares about either?»-Kelce
Jason also added to the point claiming that's what is wrong with baseball, it's a pay to win scenario and it takes away from the magic of the sport.
Suggesting the MLB should turn to a salary cap situation instead. Kelce a week later tried back tracking on his comments, saying he wasn't criticizing Canada or the Blue Jays, but rather the system of baseball.
"Seriously, Canada is the best, I was just talking sh-- about not being personally invested of caring that the team that spent the most money and built a super team won the World Series. That's it. How could I not love poutine, maple syrup and beavers!! I was actually rooting for the Blue Jays in a World Series I didn't care about.»-Kelce
It seems more like a saving face situation than a genuine statement. But Kelce has always been a likeable, respectable guy, while he was playing football, and now as a broadcaster. This however will not blow over quickly.
