Kansas City Royals DFA former Blue Jays player after loss to Toronto
The Blue Jays bounced back from a tough loss in the first game of the series against the Royals as they put together a solid effort led by future hall of famer Max Scherzer.
Former Blue Jays pitcher Thomas Hatch DFA'd by the Royals after loss
The Royals called up Hatch from the minors only a few days ago and he made his first appearance in an MLB game since 2023 yesterday but ended lasting less than 24 hours after that.
Hatch ended up getting DFA'd right after the game after giving up 2 hits, 2 earned runs including 1 homerun in 1 inning pitched against his former team leading to the roster move.
Royals Designate Thomas Hatch For Assignment
Thomas Hatch made his debut with the Royals last night and less than 24 hours later: DFA'd. I know someone had to go but oof, that's rough #FountainsUp
Hatch's best season in the MLB remains his first year in the MLB in 2020 with the Blue Jays as he finished with a 2.73 ERA in 26.1 innings pitched including a solid 23 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP.
Unfortunately in just 1 inning pitched in the MLB this season which was quite the disaster, Hatch's ERA now sits at 18.00.
After such a tough last few years and a rough outing in Toronto yesterday, it will not be easy for Hatch to find himself a new minor league deal but since he is only 30 years old, he should be able to find something.
The Blue Jays close out their series against the Royals this afternoon at 1:37 PM.
