The Dodgers have claimed IF Buddy Kennedy from the Toronto Blue Jays and placed IF Max Muncy on the injured list with an oblique strain. In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Kennedy, the Dodgers designated RHP Julian Fernández for assignment.
The Blue Jays signed Kennedy early this season after he was released by the Philadelphia Phillies but only had him play in 2 games and a total of 5 at bats before being DFA'd.
On the season between the Phillies and Blue Jays, Kennedy has played in 6 games with only 1 hit in 12 at bats for a 0.83 batting average and .214 on base percentage.
While Kennedy did not get much of a chance in Toronto, the team did not have much of a choice in getting rid of him once Gimenez returned to the lineup.
Now that the Dodgers are currently dealing with some injuries, Kennedy might have more of a chance to play and prove that he can be a major leaguer even if it does not end up being in Los Angeles.
