The New York Yankees announced this morning that they have agreed to a deal with former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Ali Sanchez.
Sanchez bounced around quite a bit this past season and finished the year off with the Boston Red Sox who ended up designating him for assignment in August then outrighted him to Triple-A where he finished the season.

A 28-year-old catcher, Sanchez has played 50 MLB games with +3 Fielding Run Value and a .454 OPS in his career.

Sanchez did not get a ton of playing time between the Blue Jays and Red Sox but did still manage to be affect during his time in the majors as he suited up for a total of 23 games last year.
During his time with the Blue Jays, Sanchez played in 21 games in 2025 in which he hit 0 home runs and 0 RBIs but managed to finished with a .238 batting average and 5 hits in 21 at bats.
Despite not getting a ton of playing time in the MLB, Sanchez has still seen action in a total of 50 games since 2020 playing game in 4 of the last 6 seasons.
Now with the Yankees, there is a chance that he could fight for the back up catcher job but most likely than not he will end up starting the season in Triple-A and could get called up if an injury occurs.
The Yankees have confirmed that they have signed Sanchez but have not announced yet if he will be invited to Spring Training in a couple months.
