The Blue Jays traded for France and relief pitcher Louis Varland with the Twins in exchange for Alan Roden and Kendry Rojas right before the deadline.
Blue Jays will likely DFA Ty France to make room for Andres Gimenez
Gimenez has now played a few rehab games with the Buffalo Bisons and is expected to rejoin the Blue Jays lineup for their series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
Other players such as Joey Loperfido, Davis Schneider and Nathan Lukes have also been mentioned but these three have been playing great lately which is why it would not make any sense for Toronto to move on from them.
"Overall, France is having an okay season, but he wasn't quite the deadly right-handed player he's been in the past. Maybe the Blue Jays think that David Popkins can work his magic and unlock some potential with France, but he might be an option for the Blue Jays to DFA once Gimenez is healthy." -Hunter
Even if France is not moved when Gimenez returns, he will likely get DFA'd when George Springer returns from his concussion which will also likely be in the next week or so if he finally clears all the tests.
If Toronto ends up designating France for assignment he will likely get claimed off waivers by another team since he can be a bench player in the MLB as he is clearly too good for the minors.
The Blue Jays could also look at moving on from Schneider, Loperfido or Lukes but this will surely upset the fan base quite a bit, especially with how well they have been playing.
