The Toronto Blue Jays have some big roster decisions to make before the playoffs especially in their bullpen as Yariel Rodriguez has been dealing with consistency issues lately.
Blue Jays might have to move on from pitcher Yariel Rodriguez
Rodriguez was a big part of the Blue Jays success up until recently where he seems to be unable to control his pitches which has resulted in a few very tough outings.
Over his last 9 appearances, dating back to July 25, Rodriguez has pitched 8 innings, giving up 12 hits, 10 earned runs and 9 walks with an ERA of 11.25.
#BlueJays Yariel Rodriguez over his last 9 appearances: 8 IP, 12 H, 10 ER, 9 BB (11.25 ERA, .364 Opp Avg, 2.63 WHIP). Not good. Last clean outing was July 25th.
Fans online have been calling for the Blue Jays to move on from Rodriguez as he has become an unreliable pitcher and they have much more stable options in their bullpen for the playoffs.
Always been a huge fan of Rodriguez, but he's become unreliable. It's pretty obvious when Schneider was sitting him too long in June-July, it got to his head that Schneider has no confidence in him. If Schneider & Walker are still here after this year, it's best to trade Yariel.
Despite the rough numbers lately, Rodriguez overall season has been pretty decent as he currently has a 3.39 ERA in 61 innings pitched with 54 strikeouts and 2 saves in 54 games.
As the Blue Jays just sent down Mason Fluharty to Triple-A despite him pitching very well lately which is someone who can easily take Rodriguez' place in the bullpen.
It will be interesting to see how things play out over the next few days regarding Rodriguez.
