The Toronto Blue Jays announced an unfortunate injury update regarding relief pitcher Erik Swanson this afternoon as it looks like he will not back anytime soon.
The Blue Jays announce injury update regarding pitcher Erik Swanson
The Blue Jays announced over the weekend that Swanson went down with an injury to his elbow when he was pitching in the bullpen recovering from a forearm injury he was dealing with earlier this spring.
According to reports, Blue Jays pitcher Erik Swanson is not scheduled to meet with doctor Keith Meister on Thursday to take a look at his injury but it seems like it is worse than originally expected.
Early Monday, Schneider shared that reliever Erik Swanson is scheduled to meet with Meister in person on Thursday. This comes after Swanson experienced right elbow discomfort after a recent bullpen session, which came on the back of right forearm discomfort earlier in camp. -Matheson
Swanson has dealt with a lot of injuries throughout his career which is why the Blue Jays are having his elbow fully examined by Meister to try and find the root of the problem.
This has been a «recurring theme» for Swanson, as Schneider put it, which is why the Blue Jays are eager to nail down the exact cause of Swanson's issues. -Matheson
Clearly this issues is pretty serious since the Blue Jays would not have wasted their time signing pitcher Dillon Tate to a contract this morning if Swanson was going to be ready for the start of the season.
Hopefully none of the Blue Jays star players go down before the start of the season at the end of the month of March since they cannot afford to have many more injuries.
