The Seattle Mariners announced that they have reached an agreement with former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Rob Refsnyder.

There has been quite a few surprising deals involving some former Blue Jays lately as even Zach Pop who had an off year in 2025 was able to secure a major league contract yesterday.

Mariners sign Rob Refsnyder to one deal

The Mariners announced that they have signed Refsnyder to a one year major league deal as they plan on using him as a platoon player due his great numbers against left handed pitchers.

Outfielder Rob Refsnyder and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a one-year contract. Refsnyder, 34, crushes left-handed pitching and has been a very good platoon player in recent seasons.

The deal that the Mariners agreed upon with the 34 year old slugger is a one year contract worth $6.25 million which also includes $250,000 in incentives.

Rob Refsnyder breakdown:

- One year, $6.25 million

- Slashed .302/.399/.560, with a .959 OPS and a 159 wRC+ vs LHP

- Lefty masher, will platoon with Canzone in RF, takes away having to rely on Robles

- Career high in barrel rate and second-highest average exit velocity of his career last season (at age 34), walks at a really good clip

Refsnyder played for the Blue Jays back in 2018 when he acquired through trade from the New York Yankees but did not last long after he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Cleveland Guardians.

This seems to be a solid depth signing by the Mariners as Refsnyder hit 9 home runs and 30 RBIs in 182 at bats last season.
