Blue Jays release veteran pitcher Chad Green
When the Blue Jays decided to DFA Green, most expected another team to claim him off waivers due to his experience but it looks like that no other team saw him worth the risk.
Chad Green has been designated for assignment, the Blue Jays announced.
Green has had a very rough season in 2025 as he has an MLB leading 14 homeruns allowed while also putting up a 5.56 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched while striking out 35 batters.
Despite a rough year this season, Green did put up a solid 3.21 ERA last year in 53.1 innings pitched which is why most expected him to get claimed off waivers after he was DFA'd.
Green will likely be able to find himself a new contract in the coming days but will probably have to sign a minor league deal and work his way back up to the majors due to his poor performance this year.
It will be interesting to see where Green ends up and if he will get another shot at the MLB this season or if he will finish the year in the minors.
Hopefully the Blue Jays bullpen do not have more injury problems for the rest of the season if not this move will not look good in the long run.
