The Toronto Blue Jays announced that veteran outfielder Daulton Varsho will not be returning to the lineup against the Baltimore Orioles after unexpected setback.
Blue Jays announce slight setback in Daulton Varsho' return
Varsho was expected to return to the Blue Jays lineup in Baltimore but it looks like that has been pushed back because he was unable to get to play recently in a few rehab assignments.
According to reports, Varsho missed some rehab games due to rainouts in Dunedin which has pushed his rehab assignments a few days but he is now expected to play in Triple-A today and Tomorrow.
Daulton Varsho is more likely to rejoin the Blue Jays after the July 31 trade deadline following multiple rainouts in Dunedin over the weekend.
The club aims to have him play Tuesday and Wednesday with Triple-A Buffalo before possibly returning after Thursday's off-day.
The good news is that the setbacks were not due to any injury related issues which means Varsho is still very close to returning to the lineup but it will not be after the trade deadline.
The new plan is for Varsho to rejoin the Blue Jays for the series this weekend in Toronto against the Kansas City Royals.
Daulton Varsho will continue his rehab assignment with triple-A Buffalo this week; plan is to play on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Varsho missed a lot of playing time the last couple days due to weather. If all goes well, he could rejoin Blue Jays this weekend in Toronto.
Despite some delays and setbacks, it looks like Varsho is finally coming back in a few days.
