The Toronto Blue Jays main focus ahead of the trade deadline is a starting pitcher which is why they are interested in Chicago White Sox pitcher Adrian Houser.
The Blue Jays starting rotation has quite a few problems including Max Scherzer's thumb even if it has been feeling better lately, it can still be seen as a liability down the road.
The Blue Jays are looking to trade for White Sox pitcher Adrian Houser
The Blue Jays starting rotation has not been healthy all season and even with Scherzer's return, they are still missing at least one piece to fill out the rotation.
According to reports, the Blue Jays could look to trade for White Sox starting pitcher Adrian Houser who will likely be dealt at the deadline and would be a perfect fit for the Blue Jays.
In a recent YouTube video, Jim Riley of BALLCAP Sports predicted that the Blue Jays would acquire Adrian Houser, the ninth-year White Sox starter pitching for his sixth organization, in a trade deadline deal. -Roberts
"The Jays have gone up against Houser twice in the last two or three weeks during their hot stretch, and the one fricking guy that's been able to cool the bats is Adrian Houser," -Riley
Last season
Houser struggled with the Mets as he finished with a 5.84 ERA but he seems to have figure it out this season in Chicago as he currently has a 1.56 ERA with a 5-2 record on an atrocious White Sox team.
Houser somehow has a 1.56 ERA in nine starts at the major league level this season, racking up 2.9 bWAR, which is more than anyone on the Toronto pitching staff. In two starts against the Blue Jays, he went 13 1/3 innings and allowed just three earned runs on 14 hits. -Roberts
The only issue the Blue Jays could have with bringing in another starting pitcher like
Houser is that they have both Bowden Francis and Alek Manoah set to soon come back but it will only be a problem if both player pitch well as soon as they return.
With Scherzer, Manoah and Francis all having problems surrounding them, it is too risky for the Blue Jays not to bring in at least one starting pitcher at the deadline.
