The Toronto Blue Jays
are focusing on pitching this off-season and reports suggest they have their eyes on New York Yankees all-star pitcher.

The Blue Jays have been looking at different options for their bullpen in 2026 which includes bringing in a new closer and moving Jeff Hoffman out of that role.

Blue Jays linked to Devin Williams

GM Ross Atkins publicly stated during a recent interview that Hoffman is not married to his role of closer and that the Blue Jays are looking at all options to make the team better for 2026.
Following Toronto's heartbreaking loss in Game 7 of the World Series, Atkins said the Blue Jays are open to moving closer Jeff Hoffman out of the role after an uneven debut campaign in Toronto. -Goldberg

According to a recent report, the Blue Jays could have a lot of interest in Yankees closer Devin Williams even though he will likely land a sizeable contract which has proven to no longer be an issue for Toronto as of late.
Williams will likely seek to secure a multi-year contract, given the looming labour uncertainty at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Atkins and the Blue Jays proved they are willing to go outside of their comfort zone when they invested three years and $33 million in Hoffman last year. If they feel Williams is a good fit to help raise the ceiling of their bullpen for 2026 and beyond, there's no reason to think they won't make the type of offer it'll require to secure his services. -Goldberg

Williams is coming off a rough year in New York where he finished with a 4.79 ERA in 67 games this season in which he racked up 18 saves despite losing the closer job at one point this season.
While Williams 2025 season was the worst of his career, between 2022 and 2024, Williams had an ERA of below 2.00 for three consecutive seasons in Milwaukee.
There certainly is some risk involve if the Blue Jays do go after Williams this off-season but at the same time, they will also be getting him at a discount due to his poor performance in New York.
However all of this is just rumors and ideas as of now since the Blue Jays have yet to even make their first signing so far this off-season.
