The Toronto Blue Jays have contacted the San Diego Padres for a blockbuster trade
The Toronto Blue Jays main priority for the trade deadline is a starting pitcher and it looks like they might have begun discussions with the San Diego Padres regarding Dylan Cease.
Blue Jays have apparently called the Padres regarding Dylan Cease
Reports came out that the Padres have been in discussion with a few teams ahead of the trade deadline regarding starting pitcher Dylan Cease and it looks like the Blue Jays might be one of those teams.
According to the latest update from Buster Olney, the Padres received multiple calls on
Cease and while the exact teams have yet to be mentioned, it looks like the Blue Jays are one of them.
Buster Olney of ESPN reported that numerous teams have been in contact with the San Diego Padres for right-hander Dylan Cease. -Brauner
The Blue Jays are apparently not the only team interested in Cease as the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs could also potentially be in discussions with the Padres regarding the pitcher.
Though he did not name the Blue Jays specifically as a team who has been in touch, he mentioned the "AL East teams" along with the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets as having made contact with San Diego. -Brauner
Olney also added that he believe that the Blue Jays divisional rivals, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees also have reasons to be interested in Cease.
All three of Toronto, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees have reason to be involved, so it's very possible that Olney was referring to the entire trio. -Brauner
Cease is not having the best season as he currently has an ERA of 4.59 in 113.2 innings pitched this season but could still be very interesting for Toronto.
