The Toronto Blue Jays have made it clear they are looking for a right handed hitter at the trade deadline and have been recently linked to Washington Nationals third baseman Amed Rosario.
Blue Jays interested in trading for Nationals utility man Amed Rosario
The Nationals currently sit in last place of the National League East with a 39-60 record which guarantees that they will be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline.
According to reports, the Blue Jays could look into trading for
Rosario who would be a perfect fit given that he is a solid hitter and is also what they are looking for in a right handed batter.
The Blue Jays have a couple of needs, as Toronto will look to add a starter and bullpen help, but have also been linked to adding a bat. Blue Jays analyst Matthew Spagnuolo of BlueJaysNation links Toronto to acquiring veteran utility player Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals. -Shelton
While the Blue Jays have been linked to more gifted hitters, pairing Rosario along with a reliever such as Brendon Finnegan or Michael Soroka could be huge for Toronto.
«His production could provide insurance while players return from injury and contribute in key late-game scenarios,» Spagnuolo added. «The Nationals could package Rosario in a deal - potentially with a reliever like Brendon Finnegan or right-hander Michael Soroka - to address Toronto's bullpen depth as well.» -Spagnulo
Rosario is only making $2 million this season and will be a free agent at the end of the year which would make him the perfect rental for the Blue Jays in the final stretch of the season.
So far this season, Rosario has 5 homeruns, 17 RBIs, a .273 batting average along with a .315 on base percentage in 45 games.
