Daulton Varsho and John Schneider's Blue Jays should not be rushing into this Tigers proposal.

The idea on the table is simple: Detroit gets Varsho, while Toronto gets infielder Hao-Yu Lee, left-hander Jake Miller, and outfielder Jackson Strong.
On paper, that gives the Blue Jays 3 young pieces for 1 established big leaguer. That is usually the kind of structure that gets front offices talking.
But this one asks Toronto to give up too much certainty. Varsho is already a real major league outfielder who can change a game in the field even when the bat runs hot and cold.
That matters more than prospect volume. A package with 3 names can look deep, but depth is not the same thing as impact.
Lee is the headliner here, and that is where the conversation starts. If he is truly a Tier 4 prospect and Detroit's No. 7 prospect, then Toronto would at least be getting a legitimate infield piece to build around.
Still, the rest of the return feels lighter than the player going out the door. Miller and Strong may have value, but neither gives this proposal the punch it needs.

Toronto would be trading the best player in the deal

That is the biggest problem with this proposal. The Blue Jays would be the club moving the proven center fielder while hoping one of the incoming names turns into something close to that level.
That is a risky bet for a team that still needs real outfield defense on the major league roster. Varsho covers ground, saves runs, and gives Schneider a lineup card with fewer late-game problems to solve.
There is also a roster-balance issue here. Toronto would be adding another infield prospect even though the biggest major league value in this proposal sits in center field on the Tigers' side.
If the Blue Jays are moving Varsho, the return should either bring back a higher-end young hitter or a clearer major league piece. This package feels more like a quantity deal than a difference-making one.
Detroit would probably make this call because it would be landing the most dependable asset in the trade. That alone should tell Toronto to slow down.
Lee is interesting. Miller and Strong may develop. But the Blue Jays cannot build a strong trade around “may” when Varsho already gives them real defensive value in the big leagues.
Unless the Tigers add a better centerpiece, this is the kind of proposal Toronto should pass on fast. Varsho is too valuable to move for a return that still feels more hopeful than convincing.
