The Blue Jays just dropped their full list of non-roster invitees for Spring Training, and hiding in plain sight is a former Silver Slugger who might just power his way onto this roster.
It is easy to glaze over the list of "NRIs" as camp fodder, but this year feels different.
The headline grabber is undeniably Eloy Jiménez (Signed as Int. FA in 2013 by Cubs).
Yes, he is coming off a rough 2025 where he hit .247 in the minors, but the power pedigree is real.
This is a guy who smashed 31 homers as a rookie and won a Silver Slugger in 2020.
If the Jays can unlock even 80% of that bat, he is a massive upgrade off the bench or at DH.
But the intrigue does not stop with Eloy.
Keep your eyes glued to Yariel Rodriguez (Signed as Int. FA in 2024 by Toronto).
After a debut season where he flashed brilliance (3.08 ERA in 66 games in 2025), he finds himself fighting for a spot again.
That hunger is dangerous.
We also have Arjun Nimmala (Drafted 1st Round, 2023 by Toronto), the 20-year-old phenom who is finally getting a taste of big-league camp.
Seeing him take grounders next to Bo Bichette will be a glimpse into the future we have all been waiting for.
These "longshots" are actually depth pieces in disguise
The bullpen competition is going to be a bloodbath, and that is exactly what you want.
Jorge Alcala brings a 98 mph heater that has baffled hitters in the past, despite a rocky 2025 (6.22 ERA).
If Pete Walker works his magic on Alcala, we have found another high-leverage arm for pennies.
Don't sleep on Rafael Lantigua, who has been grinding in the minors for years and just puts up professional at-bats.
Pitchers: RHP Jorge Alcala, LHP Javen Coleman, RHP Chad Dallas, RHP Ryan Jennings, RHP Fernando Perez, LHP Michael Plassmeyer, RHP Yariel Rodriguez, RHP Connor Seabold, RHP Gage Stanifer, RHP CJ Van Eyk, RHP Chay Yeager.
Catchers: Chad Brooks, Edward Duran, Aaron Parker, Geovanny Planchart, C.J. Stubbs.
Infielders: Cutter Coffey, Josh Kasevich, Sean Keys, Rafael Lantigua, Charles McAdoo, Carlos Mendoza, Arjun Nimmala, Josh Rivera, Riley Tirotta.
Outfielders: Eloy Jiménez, RJ Schreck.

This camp is not just about the stars getting their reps; it is about finding the 26th man who wins you a game in August.
Every rep in Dunedin matters now.
The front office has quietly assembled a group of hungry veterans and top-tier prospects who have everything to prove.
Let the competition begin.
