The Toronto Blue Jays took down the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 last night and after the game manager John Schneider announced announced an injury update Chris Bassitt.
Blue Jays announce confusing injury update on Chris Bassitt
After the game last night, Schneider stated that they pulled Bassitt after 5 inning despite his solid performance since the the team had a fully rested bullpen and that there was no physical issue with Bassitt.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider says lifting Chris Bassitt from Friday's game at 75 pitches wasn't due to a physical issue
Schneider says he wanted to take advantage of a fully rested bullpen to give Bassitt a shorter outing as team plays 13 games in 13 days late in the season
However, then Bassitt spoke with reporters sharing that he was not feeling his best and at this time of year, the team wants to make sure that whoever is on the mound is fully healthy.
Chris Bassitt said he «wasn't feeling the best» tonight, and agreed the short start was best for the #BlueJays long term:
«Just that time of year, things don't feel great. It's making sure that we're the healthiest going forward.»
This is quite the confusing update since Bassitt himself stated he was not feeling great but Schneider on the other hand said there was no problem with him at all.
Despite what Bassitt said, it seems like it is nothing too serious as he was still able to finish the night with 5 innings pitched, giving up only 2 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 6 batters.
