Blue Jays manager John Schneider announce injury update on Anthony Santander
Santander has been far from the player the Blue Jays expected when they signed him in the off-season as his numbers at the plate have been so bad that some were kind of happy when he went to the injured list.
Schneider stated during an interview today that Santander has only begun very light baseball activities and will be brought back extremely slowly as he even stated that Daulton Varsho will be back before him.
It sounds like Anthony Santander (suoulder) will be brought along slowly. He's just started "light baseball activity" and the #BlueJays really want him at 100%
Schneider: "It's light catch, swinging a bit. I think he'll be a little bit longer than Varsho, to be honest with you."
The Blue Jays have actually been thriving without
Santander in the lineup which is why they are likely taking their time bringing him back since they do not want to mess up a good thing.
If Santander comes back and the team starts to lose more, the front office will have to face some serious questions because they have him for another four seasons but he is clearly not making the team better.
The other big question is around who the Blue Jays will decide to bump out of the lineup when Santander or Varsho are back because they will need to make room for them.
Hopefully when these two outfielders return it will only make things better for the Blue Jays instead of worse but Varsho is far from being the one that people are worried about.
