The Toronto Blue Jays still plan on adding some more players this off-season which will lead to them having to trade away some players.

There has been a lot of trade rumors flying around lately especially surrounding starting pitcher Jose Berrios who does not really have a permanent spot in the starting rotation for right now.

Blue Jays expected to trade away at least 3 players

The Blue Jays added a couple top end starting pitchers to their rotation for the 2025 season and that means that Berrios will likely only be given a spot as a relief pitcher which he might not be to happy with. Since bringing in Berrios as a relief pitcher might cause some issues in the clubhouse, the Blue Jays would be better off trading him before Spring Training.
"With the 10-year veteran not likely to accept a relief role, Toronto should look to move Berrios prior to the start of next season so that he can regain his starting status while netting a valuable asset or two in return to make both parties happy." -Edward Eng

Another pitcher that could be gone before Spring Training is Ricky Tiedemann since Trey Yesavage took his spot last season and unless an injury comes up, he will not be called up this season. However, the Blue Jays could use him to get a great return which is why trading him could make a lot of sense.
"But for the Blue Jays to bring in quality players through trade that could make a difference for the ballclub this year, they will likely need to part ways with a top prospect or two. This is particularly true if they are targeting someone like a Mason Miller or even Ketel Marte." -Eng

Finally, there is Joey Loperfido who is at the bottom of the depth chart for the Blue Jays outfielder and will likely see very little playing time in 2026 if he ends up statying in Toronto.
"As a result, with many of the returnees ahead of him in the pecking order going forward, rather than waste his talents in the minors, Toronto should move Loperfido to bring in a valuable asset in an area of need. " -Eng

While the Blue Jays could end up keeping all three, if they need to clear up some roster space, moving these players would make the most sense.
