The Toronto Blue Jays signed Nic Enright to a two year deal this morning but due to some injury problems, he will not be pitching this season.
The Blue Jays and Enright agreed to a two year, minor league contract but it looks like the first year will just be him recovering from a serious injury.
Nic Enright will miss the 2026 season due to Tommy John surgery
Enright has dealt with quite a few health concerns over the last few season as in August 2025 he made his return to the MLB from stage 2 Hodkin's lymphoma.
On December 22, 2022, Nic Enright was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Last night, the rookie pitcher, who is expected to go through more cancer treatments this fall, picked up his first career save for the Guardians and reflected on his journey

Then after only a bit over a month into his return, Enright went down with right elbow inflammation which needed Tommy John surgery to fix which is why he will miss the entire 2026 season.

Enright, 28, beat Hodgkin lymphoma and had a really nice year with the Guardians in 2025, with a 2.03 ERA in 31 innings.
He'll spend 2026 rehabbing Tommy John and look to bounce back in 2027.

Despite the unfortunate update, this signing seems like a great move for the Blue Jays future as Enright is a solid young pitcher that could end up helping out quite a bit.
The Blue Jays staff also seem to have done a great job with Shane Bieber, Ricky Tiedemann and Alek Manoah who all had Tommy John surgery recently which is why this is also a great decision.
