The Toronto Blue Jays are currently beating the Colorado Rockies 7-2 but in the top of 6th inning a frightening moment happen as outfielder Joey Loperfido took a 98 MPH fastball to the knee.
Blue Jays Joey Loperfido leaves the game after taking fastball to the knee
In the 6th inning against the Rockies, Loperfido went down after taking a 98 MPH fastball to the knee from Angel Chivilli in which even the Rockies pitcher has a scared look on his face after the play.
Loperfido needed to be helped off the field by trainers after being hit in the knee and the Blue Jays had Myles Straw take over for him in left field.
Joey Loperfido, hit on the outside of the right knee by a 98.2 mph Angel Chivilli fastball, was helped off the field by manager John Schneider and trainer Jose Ministral.
The Blue Jays have no announced an update on Loperfido's knee but they will certainly be running tests tonight and manager John Schneider will give an update after the game.
Hopefully for the Blue Jays this is nothing too serious as Loperfido has been a huge part of the team's success even since being called back up from Triple-A.
