The Toronto Blue Jays announced the passing of a legend this afternoon as former Blue Jays pitcher Jim Clancy has sadly passed away.

This is never easy news when fans hear the passing of such a big hero in the city of Toronto which is exactly what Clancy was.

Former Blue Jays legend Jim Clancy has passed away

The Blue Jays broke the news on social media this afternoon as they posted a message regarding Clancy's passing along with all of his record as a pitcher of the Blue Jays.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Blue Jays great, Jim Clancy.

Clancy spent 12 of his 15 Major League seasons with Toronto - including an All-Star appearance in 1982 - and ranks second in franchise history in starts, innings pitched, and complete games.

His impact on our organization will be remembered forever.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.
Sad to share that longtime Blue Jays right-hander Jim Clancy has died at age 69.

He was a workhorse right-hander for some of the Jays' great and no-so-great 80s teams.

I grew up and fell in love with baseball because of the mid-80s Blue Jays so this one hits hard.

R.I.P., Jim.
Clancy pitched for 12 out of his 15 years in the MLB for the Blue Jays as he pitched in Toronto from 1977 up until 1988 with his best season coming in 1982 when he was an All-Star and finished with a 3.71 ERA.
The best season of Clancy's career when looking at his ERA actually came in 1980 when he finished with a 3.30 ERA in an incredible 250.2 inning pitched that season.
Clancy's name is all over the Blue Jays record books as he ranks second in franchise history in starts, innings pitched and completed games.
The entire Blue Jays community wishes the Clancy family their deepest condolences during this difficult time.
