Blue Jays met with Edwin Diaz at the GM meetings in Las Vegas
There has been discussion of a few different options for the Blue Jays bullpen for 2026 as the team is apparently looking at moving Jeff Hoffman out of the closer role moving forward.
The Blue Jays met with All-Star closer Edwin Diaz's agents from Wasserman at this week's general manager meetings in Las Vegas, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. -Ruminski
This would be a very interesting move for the Blue Jays but Diaz has mentioned that there is still a chance that he returns to the Mets.
Apparently, Diaz has been stating that he is looking for a deal worth around $102 million across 5 years which would pay him an average salary of $20.4 million per season.
Edwin Diaz notes, per

:
• Diaz says his return to the Mets is «50-50.»
• Seeking a deal similar to 5/$102M.
• Blue Jays met with his agents.
• Toronto is targeting high-leverage relief and could move Hoffman to the 8th.
Diaz is regarded as one of if not the best closer in baseball which is why he can commend such a massive contract.
In 2025, Diaz finished with a 1.63 ERA in 66.1 innings pitched to go along with 28 saves in 62 games and a 6-3 record.
