Blue Jays pitcher Yimi Garcia will likely need season ending surgery
Garcia has been out of the Blue Jays lineup since early July when he sprained his ankle but throughout his rehab process he hurt his shoulder and has been unable to recover.
Yimi Garcia (ulnar nerve symptoms) hasn't been bouncing back well between recent throwing sessions and is going to visit with Dr. Keith Meister for another opinion on his elbow - date TBD
The Blue Jays will likely have to start preparing their bullpen to be without Garcia for the rest of the season as it looks like a long shot if there is any possibility of his coming back.
"At this point, all options are likely on the table for the hard-throwing righty, including surgery. As such, the Blue Jays probably need to operate as if he won't be an option in the bullpen down the stretch and into October." -Hall
Garcia has been a consistent part of the Blue Jays bullpen for the past two seasons and currently has a 3.86 ERA in 21 innings pitched this season with 3 saves and a 1-2 record.
The good news is that the Blue Jays added multiple solid relief pitchers at the trade deadline such as Louis Varland and Seranthony Dominguez but losing Garcia will still be painful.
The Blue Jays will be announcing more details on the issue once Garcia meets with the doctor on a second opinion but it does not look good for the time being as his season is possibly done.
