The Toronto Blue Jays are unfortunately losing Seranthony Dominguez this offseason, and despite adding Kenley Jansen and Kyle Finnegan this winter, the Detroit Tigers are eager to acquire Dominguez as well.
The reliever was also a member of the Philadelphia Phillies before the Blue Jays, and he's one of the few relievers who can throw as hard as he can.
Seranthony Dominguez might be on route to the Detroit Tigers.
Matt Sullivan of Yahoo Sports reported on the Tigers vested interest in Dominguez, who was very effective for the Blue Jays last year. He was one of if not their most reliable reliever in the bullpen, and he would be the same for Tigers, who have a very weak bullpen.
"The Tigers strengthened their weak bullpen by creating a three-headed monster with Jansen, Finnegan, and Vest for high-leverage situations in 2026. But they didn't address their biggest problem. The bullpen still struggles to miss bats."-Sullivan
That's where Dominguez comes in, his velocity has definitely led to a few strikeouts for the 31 year old. A reliever who can throw over 100MPH is going to be a problem for any team, and it would be the last piece of the puzzle for the Tigers bullpen."Dominguez is 31 years old and is coming off a solid 3.16 ERA season in 2025 across 62.2 innings pitched with 79 strikeouts and 36 walks with the Orioles and Blue Jays."-SullivanIt's sad to see Dominguez go after witnessing the performances he can offer, but the Tigers seem prepared to sign him in the $10M a year range. Hopefully he doesn't come back to haunt the Blue Jays down the line.
