Toronto Blue Jays spending plan per position is announced and fans are completely discouraged
The Toronto Blue Jays apparently have some massive plans for the off-season and insider Ben Nicholson-Smith announced how much the Blue Jays plan on spending per position which has fans completely discouraged.
The Blue Jays are in need of some serious help in a few different areas such as a starting pitcher, help for their bullpen and bringing in a solid hitter to help with offense next season.
Ben Nicholson-Smith reveals how much the Blue Jays are willing to spend in free agency
In a recent report, MLB insider Ben Nicholson-Smith revealed how much the Blue Jays plan on spending this off-season for each hole they currently have such as starting pitchers, hitters and relief pitchers.
Fans were shocked to find out that the Blue Jays still do not plan on spending much as $15-20 million will be dedicated to a starting pitcher, $10-20 million for a hitter and $5-10 million for a relief pitcher.
If they somehow add Soto, they'll add pitching, too. But for all the talk about Soto, a more likely outcome for this off-season would appear to be something like this: $15-20 million for a starting pitcher, $10-20 million on a hitter and $5-10 million on bullpen help - moves likely to come later rather than sooner. -Nicholson-Smith
When fans saw these numbers, they were completely discouraged since all of these salaries point towards the Blue Jays getting not real game changers and will end up with a bunch of average signings once again.
If this is actually the plan, just start a rebuild instead.
Fans believe that if the Blue Jays are not willing to go all out to try and put together a real team that can compete for a World Series, they might as well trade for a ton of prospects and begin a rebuild.
It is hard to imagine the Blue Jays bringing in any players that will make a massive difference if they plan on spending so little during free agency as the top players such as Max Fried and Teoscar Hernandez will cost a lot more.
