The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at multiple options in terms of starting pitchers which apparently now includes Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Taj Bradley.
The Blue Jays seem to be headed into the trade deadline with a very aggressive mentality as they are missing a few pieces including a starting pitcher to be a real World Series contender.
Toronto Blue Jays looking at possibly trading for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Taj Bradley
The Blue Jays have Alek Manoah and Bowden Francis set to soon return from injury but with all the uncertainty surrounding both of these players, the Blue Jays cannot risk not picking up another starting pitcher at the trade deadline.
According to reports, the Blue Jays could look at trading for Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley who has been recently made available by the Rays even though before he was considered untouchable.
Because of that, Toronto should be thinking big. And there would be no bigger addition they could make than acquiring Taj Bradley from the Tampa Bay Rays. -Wakai
Once seen as an untouchable pitcher, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported the Rays "are open for business" and "are listening to offers" regarding the right-hander. -Wakai
Bradley would not only be great for the Blue Jays this season but since he is still very young and only in his third season, he could be a great addition for the Blue Jays future as their pitching rotation is quite old as of right now.
So far in his career, Bradley has never put up incredible numbers as his best season was last year when he finished with a 4.11 ERA and this season he currently has a 4.60 ERA in 103.2 innings pitched.
These numbers are solid for any pitcher but it is the fact that Bradley is putting up these numbers at 24 years old which is the most interesting part.
If the Blue Jays can grab Bradley at the trade deadline and keep him as part of the core group for the next 4-5 years, it could be great for their starting rotation.
