The Toronto Blue Jays won the AL East for the first time in ten years, and tomorrow they will face the New York Yankees in the ALDS, the biggest question surrounding the team is what will the starting pitching rotation look like, for the most important series in recent memory.

The main two players in question are Max Scherzer and Trey Yesavage, one is a proven hall of famer but in his decline and the other a rising star ready to make his mark.
"Yesavage was recently called up to the majors in which he made MLB history with his start for the most strikeouts thrown in an MLB debut.

The young Yesavage made his second career MLB start yesterday against the Royals which resulted in a win and helped the Blue Jays clinch a playoff spot."-Ohr

Who's in and who's out for Toronto Blue Jays pitching rotation for the ALDS.

Thomas Hall of Blue Jays Nation broke down the two candidates for the last slot of the pitching rotation.
"If Chris Bassitt (back inflammation) is healthy, he'll undoubtedly be on the roster and start one of those two games for the Blue Jays, leaving one rotation spot up for grabs. Since José Berrios (elbow inflammation) is ineligible to return until the next round, paired with Eric Lauer working out of the bullpen, that final starter's job will likely come down to Max Scherzer and Trey Yesavage."-Hall

Max Scherzer undoubtedly has the experience over Trey Yesavage, he has won two World Series, almost 20 years in the MLB and 10 post season runs. However, this isn't the same Scherzer we are all used to, he is 41 years old and as of late his age has been showing in his performances.
Yesavage has hardly any MLB experience at all, however in his first three starts he has shown he has what it takes to perform at the major league level.
"Yesavage isn't an ordinary rookie, though. He's proven that countless times this season. Even at 22, he's already well beyond his years and has shown that he isn't intimidated by pitching under the bright lights. Take, for example, last Saturday's pivotal outing. In what was a must-win game to keep pace with the Yankees, he perfectly fit the part with five shutout innings versus the Rays, forcing the club's hand with what comes next."-Hall

The Toronto Blue Jays have had an incredible season thus far, but the postseason is all that matters. If the Blue Jays cannot make it to the ALCS or at least go the distance with the Yankees, it will be a wasted season. And pitching will be the biggest factor behind their success or not.
