The Toronto Blue Jays have one of the best MLB prospects in Trey Yesavage and player development director Joe Sclafani recently stated that he could get called up to the MLB this season.
Blue Jays Joe Sclafani speaks on possibility of Trey Yesavage getting called up to the MLB
During a recent interview, Blue Jays player development director Joe Sclafani spoke on the possibility of Yesavage getting called up to the majors in his first season of pro baseball.
Sclafani stated that if Yesavage continues to dominate in the minors they way he has then there is certainly a chance he get called up to the MLB but ultimately it is up to him and how he plays.
"If he continues to dominate performance-wise, in tandem with consistent routines and progress with his priority goals, then it's not out of the question," player development director Joe Sclafani said recently. "It's our group's job to think long term and put him in the best position to succeed, but Trey will ultimately be the driver of those decisions." -Sclafani
The Blue Jays starting rotation recently faced another set back as pitcher Bowden Francis went down with a shoulder injury and was placed on 15 day IL leaving the Blue Jays with 3 starting pitchers at the moment.
Max Scherzer is set to return soon if his rehab continues to progress but adding Yesavage to the starting rotation would definitely benefit the team, especially in the second half of the season.
As Sclafani stated, it is solely up to Yesavage as his game will determine if the Blue Jays call him up or not.
It should be interesting to see if Yesavage will be able to have gone from Single-A in Dunedin to the majors in his first season.
